Cine Film has been around since the early 1930's, and was the first format that allowed amateur photographers to make home movies. Reels would come in sizes from 50 foot lengths (about 3 inches in diameter and approximately 3 minutes long) up to 400 feet (about 7 inches and approximately 30 minutes long), and would need to be sent to Kodak to be processed, much like photo negatives. Unfortunately, Cine Film only has a lifespan of about 15 years before subtle and often harmful deterioration begins to occur. This is due to the aging of the chemicals used in the film's manufacture.
